How would you explain your research in 3 sentences to someone who is not in Science?

I work on a disease named ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). It is a kind of muscle paralysis. It is a condition in which walking, talking, eating and even breathing is impaired in severe cases.

I am a strong, direct and honest person with self-motivated thoughts. My strength is my honesty towards my work, family and friends.  My motivation is every person I meet in my day to day life. I always try to learn and get motivation from each and every event of my life in every moment. I like to help people. I like to play badminton. I like reading. I love to spend time with my family and friends.

About your work?

Proteomics, a discipline of research in which protein concentrations are analysed in various biofluids of the body. These proteins found in the biofluids can prove as biomarkers for the early diagnosis of the disease. Analysis of the concentration of VEGF, angiogenin, TDP-43, sVEGFR2, optineurin and CCL-2 in the ALS patients versus controls and neurological controls can help in knowing the pattern of variation of these protein levels. This knowledge can be used as potential biomarker for the early diagnosis of ALS.
